Day - 1675 - Day 2 Cruise - Sea Day

Sunday, May 26, 2019

After a morning run on one of the ship's Fitness Center tread mills from 7-8, Alice and I had breakfast, then enjoy 90 minutes of Izumi, the distinctive Japanese Onsen-style bath experience only offered on the Diamond Princess.

We each got a five-day pass for 90 minutes of hot tub and shower bliss.  I love these things and can see doing onsens the rest of my life.

Along with Men's and Women's indoor baths, there's a very large communal hot tub outside with cushy lounge chairs to sunbath.  We'll use Izumi every day for the next week except when Wednesday when we visit Taiwan.

After Izumi, I went to our cabin and watched the Raptors Bucks game 7 Eastern Conference Finals while Alice went to a Picasso lecture and shopping for jewelry on sale.  I ordered room service for the first time on a cruise, two pizzas (pepperoni and Hawaiian) and cokes while watching the game.

The Raptors played very well and ended up winning.  They'll face the Warriors in the Championship.

In the afternoon, we hung out at the Piazza and watched people come and go.  Diamond Princess doesn't have International Cafe, but does serve coffee drinks in the Lobby bar.  I think it's a mistake not to have small plates and desserts at the Piazza.  Maybe we're just used to that.  Anyway, it was fun lounging around in the middle of the ship.

I love sea days and this one was particularly satisfying after so many days of heavy touring and train navigation.  It was so nice to do nothing but eat, sleep, read and relax all day long.

And of course we love our Princess Cruise desserts!
