Day - 1673 - Day 4 Cruise - Ishigaki, Japan

Tuesday, May 28, 2019

We left the ship around 10 in search of Ishigaki's best ramon.  Google Maps directed us toward Yaeyama Style, a ramen shop inside a walking mall.  The restaurant didn't open until noon, so we strolled through the walking mall, then ordered beverages next door to the ramen shop at the Coral Tree Cafe.

Alice had a mango drink I ordered hot green tea. They only served ice tea but made an exception for me.  The cafe was very cute and comfortable with air-conditioning, which felt great considering how hot and humid it was outside. It was run by a pleasant young couple who clearly took pride in their charming little establishment.

At noon we went next door and ordered our lunch from a machine at the front door.  The place was run by a one guy with lots of rules posted throughout the shop (no talking loudly, kids are not allowed to run around in the restaurant, patrons must form a line in the back of the restaurant, etc.).

Alice ordered dipping noodles and I ordered the Ishigaki ramen.  (pic)

It was great.  We enjoyed our lunch so much.  A Chinese couple sat next to us.  By the time we left, a few more customers came in.

We walked back through the mall...

...to our ship and relaxed the rest of the day.
