Day - 675

Wednesday, March 2, 2022

I'm reminded of Syria and the civil war that began more than a decade ago to oust Assad, who's still in power. Aleppo, Homs, Darra, and parts of Damascus were leveled. I used to spend so much time reading about Syria, but not so much in the past few years. Now the focus is on Ukraine and the terror facing this county as bombs and more bombs wipe out buildings and infrastructure. The trauma of war is such a heavy price to pay for freedom and love of country, and yet the motives of Ukrainians are understandable. The super sanctions imposed on Russia will cripple the country and Putin will certainly feel it. Will Russians rise up? Hard to say.  Keeping tyrants out of power should be a top priority for humanity, but tyrants always manage to charm enough people with their empty promises and blatant lies. Words escape me sometimes when thinking about leaders and loyalties and power.
