Day - 901

Thursday, July 8, 2021

Thursday ended up being a very good poker day. We played at the Wynn, Resorts World, and Venetian. I won at all three poker rooms. At the Wynn, I got lucky, catching a flush after going all in for +$300. At Resorts World, I had AA against KK and a drawing hand, making $400. And at the Venetian, I was up $240.

Dinner was at a beer tasting bar

Everything was good

Thom went to bed early tonight, but I stayed up until 3 a.m. with these two characters, Steve and Mike. Lots of fun at this table!

Day - 902

Wednesday, July 7, 2021

Today, we moved it to the Palazzo, sister casino of the Venetian.

Thom played in a deep stack tournament, so I had the day to myself. I wandered around the Venetian and Wynn, then headed to Resorts World to check out the new poker room and get a player's card.

This casino is very nice. Big spaces. Beautiful.

The food court features more than 40 different places to get a bite to eat. Many are Asian specialties that look so interesting and probably taste really good.

I went to Nori Bar and ate a couple of sushi rolls. Very good.

After lunch, I played a couple hours of poker at Resorts World, making $160.

I headed back to the room at Palazzo and took a nice long nap. The hotel presented VIP Thom with a bottle of champagne.

Kevin's favorite slot machine is Buffalo. I don't have a favorite slot machine. Slot machines are so dumb.

Day - 903

Tuesday, July 6, 2021

Kevin joined the Las Vegas fun Tuesday. We played at Bellagio most of the day and had dinner at Noodles in our room. The place is packed.

Net positive for the day.

Another swell Aria breakfast at Starbuck's and patisserie.

We spent time playing at Aria and Bellagio. I like Bellagio more. Aria is darker and not as interesting.
For dinner, we went to Cosmopolitan at Momofuku. The crab cakes were delicous. Ramen was great, too!

Crab cakes...so good!

Ramen full

Ramen empty

Cosmopolitan Casino

We'd stayed up until 3 and 4 both nights, but I called it quits early tonight. Thom was still going strong, playing until 4:30 at the Bellagio with a couple of table maniacs. Fun times!

Day - 905

Sunday, July 4, 2021

Had breakfast at Aria's patisserie, then played in a 10 a.m. tournament at Caesar's. I got knocked out on the bubble but everyone chipped in $20 beforehand for the bubble person, so I ended up with $160 ($10 profit). Fun tournament. I caught some nice hands early before the blinds doubled every ten minutes.

Starbuck's at Aria

Great bakery in Aria - Patisserie

Yum!

Breakfast of Champions!

Short stacked again

After the tournament, we played cash games the rest of the day. I ended up slightly down for the day. Still waiting for cards to come my way.

Day - 906

Saturday, July 3, 2021

Left early for my Las Vegas on a full Southwest flight (surprisingly). Luckily, the center seat in my aisle contained a very small young child who played video games throughout the flight. Arrived at 7:45 a.m. and took an Uber to Bellagio. Checked my bag and signed up for an hour or poker of poker before Tom arrived.

Tom checked in at 11:30 and we were off to get a bite to eat before playing poker.

We played a few hours at Caesers before getting a bite to eat on the strip, then heading back to Bellagio for our evening session.

For the next seven nights, we'll be in poker heaven, staying at the Belligio four nights and Palazzo three nights. How sweet it is!

Day - 907

Friday, July 2, 2021

Last day of work for a week. Packed and ready to go to Las Vegas. Exciting! I should do all right. I've studied enough and have a basic strategy that should serve me well. We shall see!

Day - 908

Thursday, July 1, 2021

I believe pandemic burnout is taking a toll on everyone. That's why I can't wait to be in Las Vegas for the week.

Day - 909

Wednesday, June 30, 2021

End of an ear as Conan says goodbye on TBS.

Played at the Oaks and was roughly even for the session. Only played with $100 at a time. Getting used to cash games again.

Day - 910

Tuesday, June 29, 2021

Loved listening to astrophysicist Hakeem Oulseyi's story. Need to pick this memoir up!

Day - 911

Monday, June 28, 2021

In Vegas in five days. Time to get my study on. Still so much to incorporate and absorb. It's all spinning in my head. Plan to go to the Oaks at least twice this week. We'll see if I have time.

Day - 912

Sunday, June 27, 2021

Today we did very little. I studied poker books and videos most of the day. It's overwhelming how much there is to learn. Watched moments of Daniel Negreanu's 3rd headsup match against Phil Hellmuth. Sad to see Phil win again.

Day - 913

Saturday, June 26, 2021

Drove to SF early, then Alice and I went to San Ramon for the day. It's Rossana's birthday! We stayed until 8 p.m. The food was delicious and the two bday cakes for Rossana were beautiful. Such a fun day. It's always great hanging out with the Bay Area gang and the Youngs. Got to meet Rossana's father, who's a Vietnam vet and has lots of stories to share.

Celebrating Rossana's birthday!

Great food!

So good!

Two birthday cakes!

Rossana and her dad

With the Dean of Deep in the Pocket!

Rossana and Ed with Rossana's dad and step-mom

Great day, great food, great friends!

Day - 914

Friday, June 25, 2021

I would say from the beginning on this one:

Day - 915

Thursday, June 24, 2021

Watching some old SNL skits and found this one, which would not fly today. It does sound like actual Japanese though:

Oh-oh...Bobby's going after our favorite orange chicken at Panda Express...

Day - 916

Wednesday, June 23, 2021

When one party is so focused on undermining voting rights, the differences between us become irrelevant. They can't win if more people vote, so they're engaged in keeping everyone from voting. This has to be a losing strategy. I guess we'll find out.

Day - 917

Tuesday, June 22, 2021

Continues to be busy at work. Continuing my poker studies. Lots of good strategies to absorb. What I enjoy most about poker is the emotional discipline and patience that comes with consistently playing well. You have to accept what is in the short term and think long term. That can be challening at times. I'll keep track of my results for the first 100 hours of play and beyond. 1000 hours of play might be a good indicator of where I'm at and how effective these strategies are taking hold. We'll see.
