Alice and I attended the SF Symphony tonight to hear the incredible Canadian virtuoso James Ehens play the Bruch g minor Violin Concerto. He was extraordinary, pitch perfect and dazzling in his technique (and speed!). I like what Zuckerman says about his playing:
So outstanding! He played two encores, the Ysaye Sonata No. 3 and a mov't from a Bach Sonata. The audience didn't want him to leave. He was given several standing ovations.
The program began with a Mendelssohn Overture and concluded with two Wagner Overtures, Tannhauser and Trisan and Isolde. Just a wonderful concert!
We had dinner at our favorite spot before a concert, Max's Opera Cafe. Yummy as always.
