Genoa, Italy (excursion to Milan) - Cruise Day 6
Our day in Milan started early. We assembled at Princess Theater at 6:45 a.m. We boarded our tour bus at 7:15 and drove 90 minutes from Genoa to the fashion capital of Northern Italy.
Once in Milan, we walked through the Sforza Castle, built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan. The castle houses several art and exhibition museums, but unfortunately, we had no time to enter any of them.
We continued walking through downtown Milan, passing trams, seeing the famed La Scala Theater.

Piazza della Scala |
We had lunch inside the Galleria at a very nice Italian restaurant. Everything was scrumptious.

Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II |
The main attraction during our day in Milan was the Duomo, the giant 14th century gothic cathedral that towers over everything surrounding it. It's so beautiful and commanding, a clear building of power that took six centuries to complete.

Duomo Cathedral, amazing! |

On the roof top |
Standing on the roof top and exploring the city from such heights was a great treat. There are 2,300 exterior statues and 1,200 interior statues adorning the cathedral. We explored the church for at least 90 minutes until it was time to return to the ship.

We didn't realize until we returned to the ship that this was our second
formal dinner of the evening. We quickly changed and had dinner with
the Harrisons.
After dinner we went to a pretty cheesy Freddie Mercury
act that was very strange. It was a long, eventful day full of
magnificent buildings, art, food and friendship.
