Marseille, France - Cruise Day 5

Our only day in France was spent in Marseille, the country's second largest city.  The weather was overcast and a bit cool.  Our tour began at 9 near the ship.  We drove out of the port and down one of Marseille's main streets to the Palais Longchamp, a spectacular fountain and monument commemorating Marseille's attachment to water.

The park and fountains were enormous.  We spent about ten minutes taking pictures.  There wasn't enough time to climb to the top.  The monuments were constructed in the mid-19th century.  The sight was grand and impressive.

From there, we drove up a large hill to the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica.

We enjoyed amazing vies of the city...

...and the church, was was grandiose and very beautiful.

Smaller paintings and religious artifacts adorned the side walls.

We spent an hour or so at Norte Dame, then headed to the old harbor to shop for another hour.

We didn't take the large Ferris wheel, but I would have if Austin was game.

We did hang out at a large cafe and enjoyed some delicious pastries.

Our tour ended around 1:30 p.m.  We had afternoon tea later on, then dinner.  I think we were still a bit tired from all the Warriors games so early in the morning.
