Up at 4:40, racquetball from 5:10-7, then home for breakfast, a few items to take care of, then Varinsky from 9-2. Came home and wrote until 9:30. Talked to Alice. A full straightforward day.
I can't stop tweaking my query. Here's what I have this week:
Assertive, quick-thinking Lauren loves the limelight, hates the word "adorable," and must track down her missing dog Bailey before he's gone for good. Quiet, gifted best friend Lani loves her books, sees bizarre Shengxiao animals inside people's hearts, and feels self-conscious over her Chinese roots and the freaky secret ability her adoptive parents know nothing about. In an Oakland neighborhood dotted with incidental mysteries no one has time to pursue, these two talented fifth graders launch a new detective agency and work through their caseload with the efficiency of seasoned pros. They constantly catch what adults often miss, including clear evidence that a serial pet thief stalks their sunny streets.
TRUE COLORS DETECTIVE AGENCY is a 28,000-word Middle Grade whodunit that celebrates teamwork, deductive reasoning, and overcoming the fear of being special.
I guess I'll keep tweaking until something works.
