So I finished The Guns of August tonight. I'm struck by how closely the allies nearly lost WW1 within the first month of the war and how profoundly that war shaped history. Now I'm starting Paris 1919.

Without heat until Friday morning when my heater is fixed, so I wear my coat and crank up the heating pad before bed.
