Day - 852

Thursday, August 26, 2021

There's a talent show being put on at the firm. I'd love to practice Jean Luc Ponty's New Country enough to play it. We'll see if I can make the time.

Day - 853

Wednesday, August 25, 2021

Started the day with a walk along the beach in Alameda at 6 a.m.  Great walk and talk with the racquetball gang.

Chris Hayes totally captures the anti-vax Fox-nut crazy show that is beyond my understanding.

Day - 854

Tuesday, August 24, 2021

Still catching up from last week.

This caught my eye on YouTube, so I joined HBO Max to see the Covid documentary In the Same Breath.  How ironic that Wuhan ran out of beds and people died without any vaccine, and now certain Southern states are running out of beds and people are dying, even though there's enough vaccine for everyone. Is having no freedom the same as unlimited freedom? I wonder.

Day - 855

Monday, August 23, 2021

Still sleepy today. I had several jobs waiting for me, so the day went by quickly.

Watched this NY Times video, Dying in the Name of Vaccine Freedom. Man, I just don't get this at all.

Day - 856

Sunday, August 22, 2021

Took an early morning flight home, then BART, then AC Transit and immediately to bed. Exhausted!

Day - 857

Saturday, August 21, 2021

Ross, Sydney, Kari, Kita, Bane and I spent the day at Heritage Park in search of Grandpa's old player piano. We weren't able to find it; however, we did find several pianos at the park. Not sure if Grandpa's piano is still around, but it may well be in storage somewhere. Who knows. The piano needed a few thousand dollars worth of work.

Before arriving in the park, we met Jackie and Tavin at a dog park, where they walked their two great danes. Big dogs!

I hadn't been to Heritage Park in 15 years. They added a new gas pump and auto museum which has an amazing and extensive collection. It's really something.

After a day at Heritage Park, we headed back to the hotel, changed into our reception clothes, and made our way back to the wedding facility.

Day - 859

Thursday, August 19, 2021

Took BART into SF Int'l airport and Westjet direct to Calgary. An easy 2-hour flight. Calgary was cooler than I was expecting. Took a taxi to the Sheraton Cavalier hotel and checked into my comfortable room. I had 30 minutes to unpack and rest before heading out to dinner with Auntie Karen, Cousin Kari, her children Bane and Kita, Cousin Ross and longtime girlfriend Sydney, Uncle Steve and Nancy. We ate at Cattle Baron Steakhouse. It was great! My meal was terrific.

After dinner, we had a night cap in Karen and Janet's room, then off to bed. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Day - 860

Wednesday, August 18, 2021

Felt as though I spent the entire day generating paper work for entry into Canada. Downloaded the Arrive Canada app and filled out all the paper work there. Also waited for the negative Covid test I took yesterday. It finally arrived in my in box this evening around 8 pm.  Checking into my Westjet flight took an hour with the assistance of someone on the phone. There was a glitch in my account, but it was taken care of. Checked into my hotel, so okay, I think I'm ready for my flight and the big wedding this weekend.

Day - 864

Saturday, August 14, 2021

At Michael's in Kenwood for lunch today. We heard about his Africa trip this summer, talked politics and the inevitable implosion in Afghanistan, why Trump wasn't arrested yet, and Andrew Cuomo's fall from grace, all over salmon, chicken, salad, bread, and dessert. Such a wonderful afternoon!

Day - 865

Friday, August 13, 2021

Got this today:

Not that I need anymore books to read, but after reading the NY Times review, I had to get it. I appreciate when writers and thinkers admit when they're wrong, and AS acknowledged how terribly wrong he was in supporting the disastrous Iraq war, among other things. I'm always interested in what he has to say. He's due on Bill Maher soon.

Tonight's guests on Bill Maher are Steve Martin and Martin Short. Should be fun!

Quiet at work, allowing me time to read, take notes, organize. Back to this, which I've neglected.

Day - 870

Sunday, August 8, 2021

I busy morning, accompanying Kara as she drove Neal and Karin to the airport at 6:15 a.m. We stopped for coffee, then came home and played a few hands of cards with Steve. I took a quick shower and left Redmond at 9:15. Flew home, then slept pretty much the rest of the day. Only one more scheduled trip (Calgary in two weeks) and my travel adventures are over.
